Jiang Zhu

Based in Guangzhou, Jiang has been a part-time guide with AlpineBirding since 2019, sharing his deep love for birds and nature with visitors from around the world. A lifelong naturalist and enthusiastic birder, he has observed over 4,000 bird species across multiple continents and has extensive guiding experience throughout China, especially in the southern regions.
Beyond birds, Jiang is also a keen entomologist specializing in Coleoptera (Curculionidae) and Lepidoptera (butterflies & moths) in South China. He works at the State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Urban Ecological Simulation and Protection (South China Institute of Environmental Sciences) and runs a small biotech company, but his true passion lies in showing curious travelers the hidden wonders of nature. He also serves as the Deputy Editor of The Indochina Entomologist.
Jiang’s knowledge extends to amphibians, reptiles, and mammals at an intermediate level, and he has contributed to natural history documentaries as a science advisor, scriptwriter, and producer.
With his broad field experience, scientific background, and genuine enthusiasm, Jiang offers a unique and engaging perspective on every birding tour or nature walk—whether in China or beyond.
