Philip He

​As a half Kangba Tibetan, Philip is the main founder of AlpineBirding and is native of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. He has a deep love for his Kangba Tibetan heritage and the land where he was born and raised. Peter Roberts

Peter Roberts

Peter Roberts is based in Britain and lives on the Scottish island of Islay. A keen naturalist since childhood in London, birds are his main passion, but whale-watching, African big game, snorkeling and insects are all areas of further interest. A life of wildlife-related work has included nature reserve management, teaching wildlife field courses, ornithological survey and research, environmental consultancy and managing bird-ringing observatories and the Aldabra Research Station in the Indian Ocean.

Shay Xie

Shay Xie

Shay is among the first group of professional bird guides with the academic background of ornithology. He spent his childhood in a small county of Chongqing municipality where is the eastern edge of Daba mountains. Being brought up in a beautiful natural environment and surrounded by beautiful nature creatures, Shay has developed a strong interest in nature and birds since he was a small kid. By now, he has successfully guided many avid birders from different countries including Norway, Britain, US, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, Israel, etc.

Dave Suddaby

Dave Suddaby

Dave has had a keen interest in birds since his young days growing up in northern Lincolnshire, England, with many memorable times spent looking for migrant birds along the Lincolnshire and Yorkshire coasts. This shaped his future career which started as assistant warden at Bardsey Bird Observatory, north Wales in 1981. This was followed by further seasons at the famous Fair Isle Bird Observatory, Shetland before settling on mainland Shetland and working for conservation organizations on seabirds and breeding waders.

Steve Potter

As early as in Steve’s teenage, he already developed a passion for birds and wildlife while visiting his parents in central Africa. Since then, he spent over 40 years traveling and going to bird throughout Africa, Australia, South East Asia, UK, America, and the Middle East. 17 years ago, Steve decided to share all his birding experience and bird knowledge to the bird lovers and nature lovers by working as a birding guide.

Bella Zhang

Bella Zhang

Bella was graduated from Sichuan Agricultural University with a Bachelor's Degree. She joined AlpineBirding in early 2016 and became the director of AlpineBirding in 2018. Bella has guided a number of birding trips in cooperation with AlpineBirding guide in the past years, her passion, readiness to help and detail-oriented attitude have won her lots of praise from our clients. She takes great pride in the work she is doing, now she is ready to help you plan your best birding trip in China in cooperation with her colleagues.

Alan Curry

Alan Curry

Alan Curry has been afflicted by the birding and travel bug since an early age, and in an attempt to shake off this acute wanderlust embarked on a series of extended travels within Europe, Asia, North America, and the Antipodes for over a decade, developing a keen interest in seabirds and obscure asiatic warblers along the way. Alan, now in a much more settled mode is based in his native Northumberland where he runs an electrical contracting business.

Cory Li

Cory Li

Cory is a super fan of nature especially for flowers. His passion about nature grows from the beauty of greens in the little boys' eyes. After years of exploration, Cory found that southwest China is a paradise for naturalists. The more he saw, the more he feels like to explore. So he decided to quit his job as a chemical engineer and became a full time flora explorer and birder. He wants to take people to find the beauty of those nature spirits, work on nature education for Chinese students, and help with the conservation of those endangered species.

Fugui Wan

Fugui Wan

Fugui devoted himself to bird and mammal watching field several years ago. He has worked as our driver and assistant from then on. He is also a very considerate person who always takes care of partners on the road. His is a great spotter with sharp eyes that have been proved to be very helpful. He now can guide birding and mammal tours for amateurs, at the same time, he really enjoys showing people the natural beauty and local culture.

Ma Wenhu

Ma Wenhu

Ma has been a forest ranger in Panda Reserve for more than 20 years. Due to his job there is the biggest opportunity for him to spot giant panda and its companion animals in the wild. He is expert in wildlife conservation in the nature reserve. As a native, Ma loves the nature and would love to spend his life to protect this “homeland for wildlife”. Ma spends most of his time in the nature, inspecting the environment and the traces of wildlife. He knows every corner of the reserve and spotted countless endangered wildlife including giant panda.
